Paradigm shifts in scientific thinking are typically greeted with animosity. The contributions of Carl Woese appear to be no exception. The significance of Woese's work is only just now being recognized, but as your article points out, while his proposal for a third domain is settling in, Woese himself is treated as little more than a footnote. To my mind, it would be fair to refer to the three domain system as Woesian Taxonomy.
